About Us

The Community Housing Council of Fresno (CHC) was established with the purpose of providing a forum for local real estate professionals.  The CHC of today seeks to continue this tradition, as well as provide outreach to new and current home buyers in the community.

In its infancy, the CHC held meetings at local restaurants and City Hall.  Later, its members formed a non-profit organization for purposes of accepting donations and using the monies to host events that would further support and educate home buyers.
In 2003, the CHC received 501(c) 3 non-profit status and soon opened for business in the Housing Resource Center (HRC) in Manchester Mall.   The new location allowed the CHC, in conjunction with the HRC, to meet with clients and better serve the needs of a growing community.

In 2007, the mission of the CHC changed from simply an outreach to prospective home buyers to a provider of information and services for current home buyers seeking to keep their home from going into foreclosure.  The CHC provides counseling and assistance to home owners in the community and is a valuable and much sought after resource for those who are unable to meet mortgage obligations and at risk of losing their homes.

The services provided by the staff and volunteer members of the CHC to those in need have risen dramatically since its inception.  Besides giving clients information and resources, the CHC is able to direct them to organizations that provide meals and other social services.    In addition, the trained staff can assist clients with completing loan modification packets for their lenders when workouts are their only hope of keeping their home.
